Sauvignon Success for Saint Clair
Saint Clair Family Estate is enjoying consistent wine show success in 2012, not just in New Zealand but around the world. This time it is the Sauvignon Blanc varietal which has once again proved a winner for the family-owned Marlborough winery.
The third Concours Mondial du Sauvignon took place on March 16 and 17 at the Supérieur growers’ organisation in Bordeaux. The contest aims to promote wines made from the Sauvignon Blanc variety to increase awareness of the comprehensive world wine range of this variety.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was commissioned to handle the technical organisation of the tastings, and brought to the event the professionalism and independence for which foremost international competitions are renowned.
During the tasting, wines were divided into consistent flights based on their origin, appellation, category and price. Five Saint Clair wines were entered and of the five, four won gold medals and one a silver medal:

In addition to these medals, the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon also awarded special trophies and Saint Clair Pioneer Bock Foundation 1 was awarded the trophy for excellence in the Unoaked Dry Sauvignon category.
