ASX earns top U.S. safety award

Safety is a critical factor for new car buyers and the Mitsubishi ASX has a strong claim to be at the top of their lists, having earned further international endorsement of its safety credentials to add to its five-star safety ratings.

The United States ’ Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has declared the Mitsubishi ASX a “Top Safety Pick”, following the vehicle’s outstanding performance in front, side, rollover and rear impact evaluations.

In its capacity as a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage resulting from crashes, the IIHS conducts extensive research in controlled conditions to evaluate vehicle safety performance for consumers.

The ASX joins the 2012 Lancer in achieving the IIHS’ highest points for vehicle crash testing.

The car boasts multiple safety features from active stability control to seven airbags, including side, curtain and driver’s knee.

Its lightweight high-tensile steel skin and optimised body structure with enhanced rollover protection provided added occupant safety.

The ASX received a five-star crash safety rating (the highest rating possible) in 2010, from ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Programme) and then again in 2011, from Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme).
