ACI Asia-Pacific: Winner of the Young Executive of the Year


ACI Asia-Pacific Announces Winner of the Young Executive of the Year Award 2012

Goes to Mr. Hideo Kanaya from Narita International Airport Corporation

[April 2, 2012 – Hong Kong] ACI Asia-Pacific is pleased to announce that Mr. Hideo Kanaya from Narita International Airport Corporation is named the ACI Asia-Pacific Young Executive of the Year 2012.

Mr. Dennis Chant, Managing Director, Queensland Airports Limited and Chairman of the Panel of Judges said, "As a senior executive with over 30-year experience in the aviation industry, I am impressed with the quality of all papers received. The Panel of Judges is glad to see that the young executives in our region possess in-depth understanding and unique insights into the current key issues of the airport industry. The candidates are also capable of bringing in practical and innovative solutions for challenges faced by the industry. The Young Executives Award program provides an excellent platform to encourage these young talents to contribute their new thoughts and ideas, which are essential for the continuous growth of the aviation industry."

The judges also decided to give honorable mention to another outstanding candidate, Mr. K .G. Suresh Kumar, Senior Executive, Daily Operations from Bangalore International Airport.

Mrs. Patti Chau, Regional Director, ACI Asia-Pacific said, “I would like to congratulate Mr. Kanaya being named the Young Executive of the Year this year. We aim to honor the young airport executives through this program and I am very pleased that this annual award has once again received strong support from airport executives whose submissions have demonstrated excellent and innovative ideas in coping with the challenges in our industry. The competition this year is very keen and the judges have therefore decided to also give honorable mention to Mr. Kumar for his outstanding submission.”

Mr. Kanaya first joined Narita International Airport Corporation in 1992 as an Engineer. He is now the Senior Manager, Investment Planning, Planning Department in Corporate Planning Division. In winning the award, Mr. Kanaya will be awarded a complimentary trip to Singapore to attend the award presentation ceremony at the 7th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, a cash award as well as the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Programme (AMPAP) Fellowships for the Air Transportation System Course and one elective course of his choice. At the award presentation ceremony, Mr. Kanaya will be making a presentation on his research paper of the topic “Emergency Planning and Crisis Management for Airport Business”.

The ACI Asia-Pacific Young Executive of the Year Award was first introduced in 2009 as the first and only award in the Asia-Pacific region which honors the young airport executives who show strong passion for the aviation industry and propose innovative ideas to address the critical issues facing today’s industry. This year’s candidates were required to submit a research paper on one of the topics below and the research papers will be available on the ACI Asia-Pacific website.

• Emergency Planning and Crisis Management for Airport Business
