Beef + Lamb New Zealand resolutions pass
Farmers have voted in favour of all the farmer and company resolutions considered at the Beef + Lamb New Zealand Annual Meeting at Poukawa on the 22nd March 2012.
The farmer resolution, put by Wairarapa farmer Derek Daniel, asked Beef + Lamb New Zealand to evaluate the result of discontinuing the wool levy and investigate whether a future collective investment would add value for wool growers and then report the result to next year’s annual meeting.
The resolution was carried on a weighted basis of 16,789 votes in favour, 4,902 against and 116 abstaining votes.
The company resolution seeking to increase the remuneration pool for directors serving on the Board of Beef + Lamb New Zealand from $283,250 to $320,250 was carried with 421 votes in favour, 377 against and 35 abstaining votes.
The company resolution recommending
KPMG be reappointed as the Beef + Lamb New Zealand auditor
for the year ending 30 September 2012 was carried with 761
votes in favour, 35 against and 36 abstaining votes.
The
Beef + Lamb New Zealand Constitution requires a weighted
vote to determine farmer proposals and a one farmer one vote
basis to determine company resolutions
The Board of Beef
+ Lamb New Zealand will consider the outcome of the
resolutions at their next meeting in early May, and in
particular explore options for the process of evaluating the
effects of the discontinuation of the wool levy as requested
by farmers.
