Air Pacific Continues Flights to and from Fiji

3 April 2012: 18:00 Hours

Air Pacific Continues Flights to and from Fiji & resumes normal schedule

While Air Pacific was the only airline able to fly to Fiji every day this past weekend, today it began to operate its normal schedule ahead of the Easter weekend.

In the 4 days since adverse weather conditions hit Fiji on Friday, Air Pacific, the largest carrier flying from Fiji to Australia, operated approximately 50% of its normal schedule, but it still carried more than 3000 passengers out of Fiji to Australia and New Zealand, including 1055 customers to New Zealand and 1558 customers to Australia.

Fiji’s National Airline is expected to fully resume normal operations soon, once flood-affected staff are able to return to work. However, since many employees are recovering from flooded homes, some flights may experience minor delays due to crew rest and crew resource requirements.

David Pflieger, MD/CEO Air Pacific, said the airline was well on track to provide normal services to passengers looking to fly to and from Fiji over the Easter weekend

“Our team here at Air Pacific was simply amazing, many have been working around the clock since Friday to keep our airline running and get our passengers back home--despite their own personal hardships. It says a lot about our people when they put our customers first, and they do it with a great big Fijian smile.

“We also understand that Fiji’s major resorts and hotels have already re-opened for business; thus, while the clean-up in other areas of the nation continues, we look forward to welcoming visitors to Fiji over the long holiday period.”
