Datacom named VMware ANZ Partner of the year

Datacom named VMware ANZ Partner of the year

Datacom has been named the 2012 ANZ VMware Partner of the Year at VMware’s Partner Exchange 2012 event in Sydney.

VMware’s Vice President & Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Duncan Bennett said the ANZ Partner of the Year award recognises Datacom’s Trans-Tasman performance and fresh, innovative approach to cloud services.

He said Datacom’s VMware-based cloud strategy for the New Zealand Government and managed services customers, coupled with the establishment of a technology centre in Queensland, showcasing VMware solutions, and the appointment of a National VMware Practice Manager, were all key contributors to Datacom’s success.

“Datacom takes a fresh, out-of-the-box approach to technology so it makes sense for an enterprise’s specific needs. We look forward to growing our partnership with Datacom in the months and years to come,” Bennett said.

Datacom’s Director Auckland IT Management, Scott Green, said the VMware ANZ Partner of the Year award was important recognition from a strategic partner.

“We’re delighted to receive the award. It reflects the importance of the VMware relationship – particularly with regard to our major ongoing investment in providing enterprise-class cloud services to our customers.

“Our progress towards this goal is increasingly well recognised. Last month Datacom won the 2012 award for Best Local Provider of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Cloud Services in a comprehensive review of Cloud service providers in Australia published by specialist IT market research firm Longhaus,” Green said.

He said the VMware Partner of the Year award followed other important VMware recognition. Datacom is accredited as both a Premier-level VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP) partner and a Premier-level Solution Provider partner. Datacom’s cloud services are validated under the VMware vCloud Powered program. Datacom also regularly participates in the VMware advisory council to lend ongoing support to VMware’s vision and strategy.

Datacom recently became the first cloud service provider in the region – and one of just 30 globally – to achieve VMware’s newest solution competency, the Virtualisation of Business Critical Applications (VBCA). The new competency is awarded to partners who have achieved the highest level of expertise around virtualising business critical applications. This accreditation is important recognition of Datacom’s proven ability to provide customers with cloud services to support the most critical business applications, such as SAP and Oracle, as well as Microsoft applications.
