Great Response From Public Towards BNZ Great Lake Taupō Business Awards
Towncentre Taupo announced today that over 100 Taupo businesses were nominated in the Service Excellence Categories for the BNZ Great Lake Taupō Business Awards.
The Awards were officially launched at a BNZ sponsored function at the beginning of the month. The ICEHOUSE, New Zealand’s leading business growth centre based in Auckland, who are the judges for the Business Excellence Categories, presented a keynote address on the value that a business gains from being involved in an awards programme.
“Now that nominations have closed for the Service Excellence Categories, our panel of mystery judges have begun visiting each nominated business twice, to help establish who is Taupo’s best business,” said Ms Hooton. “So far the judges have been blown away by the high level of service they have received from participating businesses. It’s like they are all on their best behavior and have really embraced what the Service Excellence Categories are designed to do, take customer service to the next level.”
New initiatives for the 2012 Awards programme were also announced at the launch. “This year we want to engage with the community to bring a new element to the awards” said Ms Hooton. “We’re asking the community to let us know what they love about local businesses as well as what they would like to see improved. We’ve set up a facebook page and we are also using Twitter as a means of connecting with Taupō.” You’ll find links to these on our website.
Whilst the Service Excellence Categories are available for businesses operating within the town centre, the Business Excellence Categories are an opportunity for businesses district wide, including within the town centre to enter and be recognised for their successes.
The format for the Business Excellence Categories are different from the Service Excellence Categories. Businesses are encouraged to download and submit an application from the awards website.
Throughout the awards programme a series of seminars are being held at the BNZ Partners Centre. These are free to attend and open to any business operating in the Taupō district.
“We’ve invited some incredibly dynamic and successful business people to come to Taupō and share their knowledge on a variety of topics,” said Rob Marshall, President of Taupō’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, “We’re encouraging owners and managers to take time out from working in their business’, taking a step back and looking at the health and direction of the business.” Each seminar is designed to target one of the questions in the Business Excellence Category entry form.
The joint effort of Towncentre Taupō, the Taupō Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Enterprise Great Lake Taupō highlights the focus that the three organizations have to bring the district together to create a vibrant and successful place to live and do business.
