Parents Deserve Choice Of Supplier

Parents Deserve Choice Of Supplier

Warehouse Stationery has joined the call to give parents choice in where they buy their children’s supplies.

The Kiwi-owned company has always promoted consumer choice and does not participate in any exclusive arrangements with schools.

“Like many consumers, Warehouse Stationery is concerned about practices such as parents having to buy pre-packed stationery which often doesn’t detail the individual items, making price comparisons very difficult. For parents under financial pressure this can make an already anxious time of year even more pressured”, says Des Flynn Warehouse Stationery Chief Operating Officer.

“We also are aware some schools don’t make their stationery lists easily available and simply direct parents to a website with the list pre-loaded, or to a store which is the ‘sole keeper’ of their list.”

“We understand schools are often swayed into contracts with suppliers as a means of fundraising for the school through the provision of a rebate based on stationery purchases. What we don’t believe in is the fact parents have no choice in where they shop, in order for the school to get the rebate.”

“Our solution is the ‘Support Your School’ programme, which enables schools to benefit from any purchases made regardless of supplier. Through this programme in the past three years alone, schools across New Zealand have received $600,000 which they’ve spent on stationery, sports and music equipment and even whiteware for the staffroom.” School don’t need to do anything to participate and all parents need to do is to let our checkout operator know the school they would like the points to go to.

Des Flynn says Warehouse Stationery goes out of its way to make Back to School shopping as easy and as cost-effective as possible. “As the country’s largest stationery retailer, customers benefit from our bulk buying prices. We also offer multiple brands at different price points so people can choose depending on their budget.”

“Daily price checks are carried out to ensure we are the most competitive and we offer our Best Price Guarantee all year round – not just a price match but a genuine ‘beat the competitors’ guarantee.”

To assist schools with classroom supplies Warehouse Stationery launched the ‘Most Inspiring Teacher Awards’ last year, where 30 teachers are nominated annually for their outstanding contribution and win their share in $30,000 worth of classroom stationery.
