Insurance brokers partner with business publisher

The Insurance Brokers Association of New Zealand (IBANZ) has contracted business publisher Mediaweb to produce its well-regarded industry magazine CoverNote.
IBANZ CEO Gary Young says there are valuable synergies for the association in working with a business-to-business publisher serving markets connected to the insurance sector. Mediaweb publishes Management magazine for the corporate sector, Local Government, AdMedia and a number of other business titles plus a stable of food industry and hospitality magazines.
Young says a key factor in the new partnership was Mediaweb's access to experienced business journalists to further enhance what has been a successful communications vehicle for the association.
“The insurance sector is very dynamic and constantly responding to what is a challenging and rapidly evolving global environment,” commented Young. “We’re looking forward to working with Mediaweb’s team to look at the insurance business in the wider context of business in New Zealand and interpreting local trends as they impact our sector and vice versa.”
Young added that insurance in New Zealand is a NZ$4 billion business (the gross total for premiums).
Mediaweb publisher Toni Myers says her team is keen to work with IBANZ at an interesting time for the insurance sector. "The major national and international disasters in recent times have put the spotlight on the entire insurance industry and highlighted the critical role it plays in every business's risk management. And the pressures these high cost events have placed on the insurance sector have downstream effects for business and the whole economy. So there are many very critical issues for both the insurance sector and business in general giving lots of scope for our writers to get their teeth into.” The first issue of CoverNote to be published by Mediaweb is due out mid June. It is distributed to 1800 IBANZ members plus 1000 senior decision makers from New Zealand’s largest companies.
