Smart Legal Business Creates a First in NZ

Smart Legal Business Creates a First in NZ

May 8, 2012 | Family Law Results

Family Law Results, a small (and smart) Auckland business, has established what it believes is a first in New Zealand – an advisory board for a legal firm.

Advisory boards are becoming increasingly popular with SMEs as an alternative to the more traditional Board of Directors. They avoid the formal responsibilities and costs associated with a Board of Directors but can help business owners clarify their business objectives, set strategy and implement change to achieve growth.

Michael Masterson has helped a number of businesses establish Advisory Boards in the last few years. “Often the advantage of an Advisory Board can be as simple as providing business owners with the extra 5% or even just the confidence they need to thrive in an increasingly complex business environment.”

Michael, Managing Director at The Bottom Line Expense Reduction Ltd, brings a wealth of business experience to Family Law Results, having set up and run a number of successful businesses himself. Michael is joined by Professor Mark Henaghan who also recognised the opportunity to help create a best practice and profitable law firm. Other members of the board include Selina Trigg, Principal of Family Law Results and Mark Greenslade, General Manager of Family Law Results.

The members have been chosen to provide guidance and support to create sustainable growth as well as best practice for legal advice, service to clients and as a best place to work.
The business environment in which lawyers operate is changing rapidly, said Family Law Results’ Selina Trigg.

“With the market for legal services changing, a client culture developing, changes in the Family Court and the ever increasing complexity of family law, family law in New Zealand is facing significant change. It was important that we get the best advice to meet these challenges and we’re incredibly lucky to have Michael Masterson and Professor Henaghan on our board. They are both proven performers in their areas of expertise.”
