“The Power of 3
“
Just what are the investment and trade opportunities in the world’s second largest economy and how does a relationship between British and New Zealand companies play into this?
The Chinese Consul -General in Auckland, Liao Juhua is combining with the British High Commissioner Mrs Vicki Treadell and the NZ China Business Association to explore that very question in Auckland next week.
Described as the “Power of 3”, this business event will bring British, New Zealand and Chinese parties together to look at how they might collaborate to realise business opportunities in China.
China is the second largest investor in Britain and Britain is a top 5 investor in China.
For New Zealand, China is now the second largest trading partner after Australia accounting for over 12% of exports and the second largest source of imports at 16%. Two way trade was worth $12.7 billion in the year to October 2011.
British High Commissioner Vicki Treadell says “it seems to me that we can match Chinese opportunities with combined New Zealand and British capacity and expertise to mutual advantage - this must be a win, win, win for all three nations. This is part of our “triangulation” initiative around aligning business success in third countries, especially in Asia.”
