Te Waonui a Leading Light
FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE

Te Waonui Forest Retreat was awarded the West Coast Tourism Leading Light Tourism Award for business excellence at a black tie event at Shantytown on May 18, 2012.
Te Waonui Forest
Retreat Managing Director Brendan Taylor says it’s an
honour to be recognised for dedication to the West Coast and
sustainable tourism.
“When Te Waonui Forest Retreat was
built in 2009, it was designed and constructed to be at the
forefront of environmental and sustainable tourism. It sits
so beautifully and respectfully within the native
environment and we are incredibly proud to be seen as a
Leading Light for West Coast tourism.”
The only
Qualmark five-star accommodation on the West Coast, Te
Waonui Forest Retreat has a Qualmark Enviro Gold rating,
recognising its dedication to waste reduction and
environmentally sustainable practices. The property boasts
natural timber sourced from sustainable forests,
state-of-the-art insulation and is entirely computer
monitored to ensure the highest levels of energy
conservation.
“To be awarded the Tourism West Coast Leading Light Tourism Award over a very high level of competition is a real honour,” says Mr Taylor. “We believe tourism is incredibly important to the West Coast and congratulate the other finalists for their continued efforts. The more everyone does to bring both national and international travellers to the West Coast, the more money goes into Coaster’s pockets, and the more we all benefit.”
