Breakfast Grows Audience Share

TV ONE’s Breakfast has seen a 10 per cent rise in the available audience share for the month of May 2012.

Increasing from 36 per cent share of all people aged 5+ in April, to 40 per cent in May, Breakfast now has over three times the audience than that of Firstline.

TVNZ’s Editor Daily Programmes John Gillespie says, “Breakfast is a format that certainly engages and speaks to New Zealanders, and we continue to see that with our audience share in this timeslot. Rawdon (Christie), Petra (Bagust) and Tamati (Coffey) make for a very strong weekday team; it’s a trio our viewers are really liking.”

Audience numbers also grew for ONE News at 6pm, rising to a 45 per cent share of the available 5+ audience, twice that of 3 News. ONE News also gained on average an additional 53,000 viewers per edition, from 655,000 in April to over 708,000 in May.

In the 7pm current affairs slot, Close Up remains comfortably ahead of Campbell Live. Close Up received a 27 per cent share of the available New Zealanders aged 5+ at this time and over 476,000 viewers on average for each episode, almost double Campbell Live.

From June 13th 2012, viewers can catch up on the day’s news, as well as breaking stories, by heading to www.onenews.co.nz. This URL change and site renovation will align the online news brand more closely with its onscreen counterpart.
