George Ngatai appointed as new Head

Transitioning Out Aotearoa (TOA) trust has appointed George Ngatai as its new head of its organisation. Formally CEO of Te Runanga a Iwi o Te Oranga Ake the Social Service arm of Destiny Church, George was humbled to be given the opportunity to lead this new Auckland based organisation.

“We have been working on a few new initiatives with Marae in Auckland including the opportunity to provide marae members with a free no obligation $2000 accidental death policy”.

George says that other services like Youth Advocacy, Mentoring, Budgeting, Supervision with Activities and Social and Welfare support is also being provided as well.

This organisation has got some great people who work and volunteer their services to it who will be able to work with whanau, aiga, families living within Auckland and throughout the motu.

“The establishment of Transitioning Out Aotearoa started in January this year where there was an identified need to deliver culturally appropriate services to Maori, Pacific, Indian and Asian communities and we hope to be able to fill a gap identified in the Auckland region”, George says.

Chaired by Leainne Nathan, Transitioning Out Aotearoa is about providing a need for those who continually register on the Social, Health, Educational and Justice radar. “This is not taking away from the current organisation’s who work in this filed its enhancing it” she says.

Transitioning Out Aotearoa is finalizing its approval status which currently includes being an approved Budget Advisory Service and is working through Youth Service and Whanau Service approval.

“Our doors opened in April 2012 this year and in such a short time have received well over 16 families who have required support for their children or themselves” George says.
