Revolutionary EXO platform rollout cements YSI and ENVCO partnership

Leading environmental equipment suppliers ENVCO announced this week that the company has secured rights to represent YSI’s environmental monitoring systems in New Zealand – including the revolutionary new EXO water-monitoring platform.

ENVCO Director Richard Morrow said the company was excited about the strengthening of ties between the two companies, and the opportunity to distribute the EXO 1 and EXO 2 platforms in New Zealand.

“We will still offer the handheld range of water quality systems from YSI, and we can also announce that following the launch of the EXO platforms, YSI will continue to service and support the 6-Series Multiparameter Sondes.”

YSI’s new advanced water quality monitoring platform, the EXO offers a completely new approach to water quality monitoring, with highly accurate, quick response sensors in a small, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-maintain package.

ENVCO Technical Specialist, Klaas Haagh, says the EXO platform spells the end for large and complicated sensor arrangements requiring complex integration.

“The whole water quality monitoring environment now comes down to just four Sondes and a choice of parameters that fit all of them.

“There’s no need for a variety of different branded sensors because the EXO smart probes fit into one platform for easy changing and selecting of sensors for your study.

“It is the ultimate device anybody needs to meet data quality objectives for their upcoming water quality project. Just plug in your desired sensors, there’s no need to reconfigure the Sonde.

“Where previously a sensor was damaged there was potential for leaks to corrupt the data, whereas now the Sonde will detect the error and cut the sensor off the system. You then can replace the individual sensor in the field with ease by the wet-mate able, hot-swappable optical sensor ports.”

Features include:

* Smart probes – all EXO sensors have on-board memory and processing for easy calibration and configuration.

* Measureable sensor performance – new metrology system offers improved accuracy of conductivity and temperature sensors to better address oceanographic challenges.

* Monitor without interruption – EXO’s reinforced structure, welded Titanium tubes, improved power management and stable sensor performance makes possible data gathering over long periods even in tough conditions.

* Smart ports – wet-mate able connectors allow for swaps in wet conditions.

* Automatic self-routing sensors enable a string of Sondes to pass messages to individual probes and it automatically recognises configuration changes.

“The new EXO 1 and EXO 2 are smart field ready water monitoring platforms for monitoring natural aquatic environments such as oceans, estuaries, rivers, lakes and ground water.

“With a highly efficient power management platform, robust construction, and a chemistry-free anti-fouling system, EXO allows accurate data collection for up to 90 days between service intervals – you can’t go past that.”
