Hair Scene uses move to change the face of traditional hair and beauty salons
No mirrors in the colour section and free WIFI for iPads and laptops are just two of a number of exciting innovations at the new premises of Hair Scene – changes that reflect the deep seated creative culture of this longstanding Whangaparaoa salon.
After 28 years at 747 Whangaparaoa Road, Hair Scene – Hair and Beauty, has moved to new premises around the corner at 737 Whangaparaoa Road and they have used the move as an opportunity to not only launch a new brand, but to also reinvent the way hair and beauty salons work.
Explaining the shift away from the traditional salon thinking, Creative director Linley Evans says that – unlike many other salons – the team at Hair Scene are qualified and accredited in their areas of expertise.
“When you are an expert at what you do, you can think more creatively about hair and beauty, but more importantly, you have the ability to carry it out and get a good result – and that even extends to the way we do business.”
Linley, herself a highly experienced and qualified industry assessor for Hairdressing ITO, says that women can spend a significant time in a salon – particularly when they are having their hair coloured – and the last thing many of them want to do is stare at themselves in a mirror for three or four hours.
“Instead customers can work on their laptops and iPads, or enjoy a beauty treatment while their hair is processing.”
Also new is the website which gives clients the ability to go online at any time and book an appointment.
The new sunnier venue does, however, share the same car park as the old premises, so customers can be confident about finding the new Hair Scene.
“One thing that doesn’t change is our one-on-one service.
“We will still sit down and do consultations with our customers to establish what they need, what their budget is and how they are going to manage their hair at home – we offer a holistic service, not a production line,” says Linley.
In addition to a full hair salon service, Hair Scene – Hair & Beauty offers services such as deluxe facials, pedicures, manicures, shellack nails, normal waxing, spray tans and make-up – including hair and make up for the school ball season.
Hair Scene - Hair & Beauty is a hair and beauty salon located at 737 Whangaparaoa Road, offering expert advise based on knowledge and experience gained over 27 years using Schwarzkopf Professional products.
This continual training with colour and cutting techniques gives customers the confidence to try that new style and colour they’ve been thinking about.
Entering competitions gives the team at Hair Scene the edge to offer customers the latest on fashion trends and styles.
