Abano Settles Sale of Rehabilitation Business
Abano Healthcare Group has today confirmed settlement of the sale of its brain injury rehabilitation business, Abano Rehabilitation Limited, to Bupa Care Services NZ Limited.
The sale to Bupa was announced on 31 May 2012 and settled on 29 June 2012.
Managing director of Abano, Alan Clarke, commented: “Bupa is recognised as a world leader in the provision of specialised care services, and their experience and expertise will be of considerable benefit for Abano Rehabilitation, its clients and staff.
“Abano’s strategy is to invest in businesses where there is real scale, an opportunity to add value and where the business is predominantly funded by private payment. The proceeds from the sale of Abano Rehabilitation will be applied to the reduction of debt, and to support our ongoing investment into dental in New Zealand and Australia, radiology in New Zealand and audiology in Australia and South East Asia.”
