European Newcomer Set to Stop NZ Traffic

European Newcomer Set to Stop NZ Traffic

Renowned for fashion, cuisine, design and style, the best of Europe is now available to New Zealand motorists in the form of Honda’s latest hatch, the Euro Civic.

Confident design, impressive performance and innovative technology solutions all add up to create the best Civic hatch yet. 40 years on from the Civics' debut and hot on the heels of Honda's 9th generation Civic sedan, comes the anticipated 2012 Euro Civic 5-door hatch, straight from the streets of Europe.

Graeme Meyer, Head of Marketing for Honda New Zealand, says, “We welcome the Euro Civics’ arrival in New Zealand and anticipate it being extremely popular with New Zealanders looking for a car with a touch of refined elegance and an ultra-modern feel The Euro Civic is a performance car with lifestyle and cutting-edge design in mind.”

Inspired to create a car that performs well in all conditions, Honda brought in its Formula 1 race car designers to tune the body for best on-road aerodynamics. Motivated by design icons such as blended wing aircraft and shark-skin swim suits, the exterior cuts a unique and modern path on our roads. Inspiration for the dashboard was taken from the control panel layouts of a jet fighter plane and race car.

The attention to design detail and style is evident from the concealment of the rear door handles to the shark-fin aerial, LED daytime running lights and rear spoiler integrated with stop lights.

Honda's international design teams have ensured the Euro Civic balances the best of high-speed cruising with the more sedate cobbled back streets of Italy. Like New Zealand, many European roads are poor quality, so ride comfort and refinement is extremely important, coupled with the requirement of delivering stability at high speeds. The Euro Civic shows its pedigree on our roads with predictable cornering and comfort through back country roads
