New Online Site Launched to Combat Daily Deals
Going Unredeemed
A recent study has
found more than 1 in 3 people has forgotten to redeem a
daily deal
coupon.
Daily
deal websites have become increasingly prevalent, often
offering huge savings on everything from three course meals,
to massages and jewellery. While people continue to buy
group deals, statistics show they are inevitably losing
track and forgetting to claim their deal before expiration.
However DealWorks, new website
launched by a group of young IT professionals, is offering
customers a simple solution to ensure deals are redeemed on
time. DealWorks is the brainchild of three friends regularly
buying group deals, trying to keep track and redeem them all
in time.
DealWorks Co-founder David
Choy says, "Online shopping and group purchase has increased
dramatically over the past few years as people are keen to
save. There are some great offers each day and it is
important that people don't throw their money away on unused
deals."
Introduced about two years ago,
New Zealanders have enjoyed group bargains with more than 4
million deals sold, yet in a recent survey by Canstar Blue,
statistics show that over 1 in 3 daily deal purchasers have
forgotten to redeem a coupon at least once
.
By providing New Zealanders a
user-friendly platform, DealWorks allows people to track
their purchases by receiving a scheduled deal expiry
notification determined by each user, and sent to the
nominated email address in advance. DealWorks also makes
daily deal browsing easy by collectively bringing a range of
offers together onto one site.
A
significant number of people are making group purchases with
the intention of saving, yet by not redeeming them, they are
actually spending more. A recent study conducted in the
United States by Rice University found more than 20% of all
daily deal vouchers have gone unredeemed
.
Mr Choy says, "Group buying is often
an impulse purchase on a great offer and it can be difficult
to remember which site a particular deal was purchased, what
was bought and when it will expire. With DealWorks, the days
of losing money on expired deals are
over."
DealWorks is free to join and
invaluable to those buying group deals. Not only does it
allow users to track and redeem deals effectively before
they expire, users can browse top deals on DealWorks
efficiently by categorising them by date added, price, time
left or popularity.
