Supreme motel hospitality found in Palmerston North

The Automobile Association and the Motel Association of New Zealand (MANZ) are pleased to announce Peter and Roselle Gouwland, of Shadzz Motel and Conference Centre in Palmerston North, are the winners of the 2012 AA Supreme Host of the Year Award.

Accepting the award at the Motel Association Conference in Wellington, Mrs and Mr Gouwland said that they were absolutely delighted to win, especially given the calibre of the other finalists.

Bernie and Pat Taylor of Grange Lodge in Papatoetoe, and Gaynor and Neil Barker of Manukau Motor Lodge in Manukau, were the two other finalists in the running for this year’s award.

“We are very passionate about customer service and we are very grateful that this has been recognised,” said Mrs Gouwland.

Motel Association of New Zealand Chief Executive, Michael Baines congratulated Mr and Mrs Gouwland on their outstanding hospitality and said their hospitality award was also a credit to Palmerston North and the New Zealand motel industry too.

“Here is an example of a fantastic property with amazing hosts. Palmerston North should be proud to be home to this year’s winning hosts,” says Mr Baines.

AA Tourism spokesperson Rebecca Cherry says the tourism industry, including the accommodation sector, is constantly being reviewed by travellers online so it is vital that operators maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism.

“I congratulate Peter and Roselle for providing guests with a memorable experience. The reviews speak for themselves, and I encourage anyone looking for that next holiday experience to read the feedback and book their next motel stay,” says Ms Cherry.
