Auckland Airport to help Auckland sporting teams shoot for gold

Auckland Airport Gold Medal Awards, which open today for applications, offer a total sponsorship fund of up to $25,000 for sports clubs, schools and Marae within the greater Auckland region.

The Gold Medal Awards are available to sports groups, schools and Marae who wish to apply for assistance to support their sport or club goals.

The awards, which are in their third year, aim to develop healthy people in the Auckland region through sport and fitness.

Teams and groups can apply for funding which can be used for purchasing sports equipment, for coaching or training purposes or for helping with travel and accommodation costs for sporting events.

Please note: preference will be given to applications where the funding will be used for particular projects or initiatives that will result in tangible outcomes.

Applications open Monday 6 August and close Sunday 2 September 2012.
