500,000 Trees Funded Thanks To Honda Buyers

500,000 Trees Funded Thanks To Honda Buyers

Honda New Zealand is celebrating reaching a significant milestone. Honda’s TreeFund initiative has achieved accumulated funding for half a million new native trees around the country.

Through its TreeFund initiative, each time a Honda agent sells a new car, 13 native trees are funded. Honda has been funding tree plantings nationally since 2004.

“We are thrilled to reach half a million new native trees - this is a significant milestone for Honda and for the New Zealand environment. Without the wonderful support of our customers this wouldn’t have been possible; together we are making a positive contribution to helping restore New Zealand’s bio-diversity.

“Over the last eight years, Honda has implemented the TreeFund campaign to encourage bio-diversity in local communities. We’ve funded the planting of trees from Kaitaia to Invercargill. We are very grateful to our customers for their dedicated support of this important initiative and we look forward to an even bigger celebration when we reach one million!” says Graeme Meyer, Head of Marketing - Honda New Zealand.

Honda New Zealand chose CUE Haven forest reserve on the Kaipara Coast Highway as the location for the planting of the TreeFund 500,000th native tree. CUE Haven is owned by husband and wife team, Thomas and Mahrukh Stazyk and is a recipient of funding from the Honda TreeFund through Auckland Council’s Environmental Initiatives Fund (EIF). The couple bought the disused dairy farm in 2003 with the aim of re-establishing it as a native forest and wetland area.
