For immediate release – 30th August 2012

Women in Technology Boost for Otago

One of Louise Donnelly--Davey’s long term goals is to set up a seed fund for female entrepreneurs and encourage more women to look at their backyard businesses and think big ! Louise and her team have been working on their internet based start up, Scrattch for the past 12 months and have recently been announced as a finalist in the 2012 Unlimited Magazine Investment Challenge.

The Scrattch team will fly to Auckland in September to work on business growth strategies through the Business Dominoes program, culminating in a final pitch to high profile investors in October.

Donnelly--Davey says “Scrattch is set to disrupt the way people use simple bookmarking services such as delicious to track their web links. We are looking to create meaning around the plethora of data that people access every day via the internet. With a launch set within the next few months we are really exited about the potential that Scrattch has in the semantic web space”. Scrattch was also recently featured as a finalist in the 2012 ANZ Business Plan competition.

“The competition helped us solidify some of our modelling assumptions and helped us clarify where we were heading”. Louise’s advice for budding entrepreneurs? Start. Start somewhere, start something. Never be afraid to dip your toe into the water. You never know where it will lead! Scrattch is currently accepting sign ups for their beta trial at
