Announcing… New Zealand’s Most Glamorous Car Boot Sale

Designer clothing, shoes and bags will be up for grabs at the Liggins Institute Trust’s 2012 Couture Car Boot Sale on Thursday 20 September at Team McMillan BMW in Newmarket.

Organisers have rifled through the racks of top boutiques and rummaged through the wardrobes of Auckland’s glitterati and come up with a huge haul of new and pre-loved fashion and accessories, which will be on sale on the night at exceptionally low prices.

Now in its fourth year, this event has raised nearly $100,000 to support the world-leading research carried out by the Liggins Institute.

The money raised this year will go towards Professor Jane Harding's project on blood sugar problems in premature babies, which can lead to brain damage and the risk of diabetes later in life.

The Rolls Royce ManZone, with product displays, tastings and yes, beautiful cars, will offer a sophisticated haven from the fashion frenzy going on in the main showroom.

This year the silent auction will have an exciting new e-format. A downloadable app means anyone unfortunate enough to be unable to attend the event can still bid on the fantastic line-up of items. Anyone with a smartphone can keep an eye on their picks and for those less connected, helpers with iPads will be circulating to assist on the night.

One of the most sought-after auction items is sure to be a custom-designed wearable artwork. Artist Dame Robin White has created an original artwork printed on silk, which acclaimed designer Doris du Pont will make into a one-off bespoke outfit for the winning bidder.

So get frocked up for a fun night of beautiful bubbles, awesome automobiles and fabulous fashion.
