Contrary to media reports today, coal mined from Solid Energy’s Huntly East mine is not used at Huntly Power Station.
Genesis Energy has flexible contracts to import coal, when required, to supplement supplies from local coal miners including Solid Energy.
No coal has been imported to New Zealand by Genesis Energy in 2012.
