Press Release: SnapTag Technology Group

World’s First Complete Solution for Mobile App Installation on Smartphones and Tablets

– Install Mobile Apps on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Palm, and Windows Mobile from a single QR Code –

Auckland, October 2, 2012 – SnapTag Technology Group of Auckland, New Zealand has developed a powerful new technology for installing smartphone applications. The solution makes it possible for a mobile app developer to install the iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Palm, and Windows Mobile versions of their app, all from a single QR Code.

Corporations are increasingly dependent on mobile apps as a means to connect with and serve their customers. In New Zealand, ASB Bank, Bank of New Zealand, National Bank, TSB Bank, Woolworths, AirNZ, and Auckland Transport are just a few companies using this strategy. But with over 700,000 applications in iTunes [1] alone, it can be incredibly difficult for customers to find the right application for their phone.

A Quick Response (QR) Code is a type of barcode that can be read by modern smartphones. The barcode has a checkerboard appearance, and can link a customer to websites, videos, maps, and more. Originating in Japan, QR Codes have gained immense popularity in Asia, Europe and the US, and are now making strong inroads in the NZ and Australian markets.

In recent years, QR Codes have become a popular way to install mobile apps, however until now app developers have needed a separate QR code for each application version. That means one code for iPhones, a different code for iPads, a third code for Android Phones, and so on. More importantly, it meant re-printing all of the company’s marketing literature when it added support for a new device.

SnapTag consolidates all of this functionality into a single code, allowing the app developer to choose which smartphones and tablets they want to support and how each should be handled. SnapTag also adds full tracking, analytics, and reporting of every scan.

For devices which the developer does not yet support, SnapTag’s Mobile App Installer tracks requests and captures customer contact information. This makes it possible for developers to easily identify which mobile device platforms have the most demand for their app, and to announce the deployment of a new app version to interested customers.

SnapTag’s Mobile App Installer currently supports iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android Phones, Android Tablets, Palm OS devices, Blackberry, and Windows Mobile.
