Fancy a Favour?
Wedding season is in the air which means Auckland based company Favour Boutique – an online wedding and party favour business run by a young local woman - is getting ready for the summer rush proving that young females on a budget can successfully start and run their own business.
Local entrepreneur, 29 year-old Sarah Khouri, said that today’s consumers want to be original and are always looking for something to match the theme of their wedding rather than follow tradition. “Traditional favours such as Jordan almonds, have evolved to become a novel way of thanking guests and couples today are opting for favours that reflect their personality and style.”
Favour Boutique addresses the demand in New Zealand for the unconventional. A set of place card holders shaped like a pair of jandals is the best selling wedding favour during the summer months due to the multitude of beach weddings while luggage tags make the perfect favour for guests who travel to a destination wedding. “We set out to bring locals the same unique favours that are taking the overseas wedding market by storm.”
Miss Khouri founded the online store Favour Boutique (www.favourboutique.co.nz) in 2009 to offer brides exceptional favours from overseas and fill a gap in the New Zealand wedding industry, “Being young and on a budget definitely had its challenges when taking the leap to start up my own company but I stayed committed to my vision and the business is now celebrating over three years of supplying favours to weddings in New Zealand.”
Favour Boutique has also expanded to include favours for Baby Showers and birthday parties and has its sights set on further growth with the continued support of locals.
