JVC Launches New GY-Hm600e And GY-Hm650e Camcorders in Australia And New Zealand

SYDNEY, 25 October 2012 – JVC Professional today announced that it was launching the newest, next generation additions to its ProHD™ range of camcorders, the GY-HM600E and the GY-HM650E, in Australia and New Zealand.

The GY-HM600E camcorder has been purpose-built for next generation news gathering. Light, versatile and easy to use, the camera is designed for fast paced ENG delivering high quality images and features for news, sports, and independent production. The GY-HM600E features three 1/3-inch 12-bit full-HD CMOS sensors (1920x1080) and offers strong low light performance (F12 at 2000 lux). It also has a long (23x) wide angle autofocus zoom lens, a 20-second pre-record function, professional layout, and extensive video settings and encoding formats to deliver smooth file interoperability from acquisition to on-air.

The lightweight GY-HM600E records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats, including native XDCAM EX™ (.MP4), Final Cut Pro™ (.MOV), AVCHD and H.264, to non-proprietary SDHC or SDXC media cards. In addition to relay mode for uninterrupted recording, the GY-HM600E allows simultaneous recording to both memory cards for instant backup or client copy.

Designed specifically for professional ENG applications, where fast recording in formats suitable for broadcasting is essential, the GY-HM650E ProHD handheld mobile news camera can shoot and deliver news footage faster than ever. Equipped with dual codecs, it produces full HD files on one memory card while simultaneously creating smaller, web-friendly files (1/4 HD or SD) on a second card. With built-in FTP and Wi-Fi connectivity, the GY-HM650E delivers footage without a microwave or satellite connection, ideal for breaking news.

The GY-HM650E not only supports MPEG-2, AVCHD and H.264 formats, but also the new AS-10 format (MXF for production). In addition, a built-in web server allows full control of the camera – including focus, zoom, iris and metadata editing – via any browser-enabled device such as a tablet or mobile phone, with no additional software required.

The GY-HM600E is available In Australia and New Zealand from November this year and the GY-HM650E from January 2013.
