Former head of the UK Design Council identifies challenges
David Kester - former head of the UK Design Council -
identifies challenges and growth opportunities
Auckland November 8th 2012, 6pm
David will
address the current state of design in the UK in order to
identify the challenges, where the growth opportunities are,
and how this is driving and influencing emerging trends.
Design and how it is changing (international expansion;
impact on business; role in innovation).
During his ten years at the Council, David led the development of ground-breaking business support and innovation programmes: coaching start-ups and high-tech ventures in the manufacturing and science sectors; accelerating innovation in the fields of healthcare and crime prevention. David served as advisor and contributor to three UK governments, developing and supporting practical policy for the Treasury, and departments of Business, Education, Communities, Health and Culture. His recent publications include the Design for Innovation report, whose recommendations were incorporated into the UK Government’s growth plans. David played a key role in the instigation, development and implementation of the 2005 Cox Report on Creativity in Business to HM Treasury.
