Transpacific trucks get behind their ‘mo
bros’
In support
of the 5,627 male employees working across our business in
New Zealand and Australia, Transpacific is getting firmly
behind the 2012 Movember campaign.
Hundreds of Transpacific and Waste Management trucks will join employees in showing support for the worthy cause, as they hit the streets of New Zealand on 1 November sporting blue moustaches.
Transpacific NZ Managing Director Tom Nickels said he was pleased to be supporting the important cause again this year.
“2011 was our first year participating in Movember as a Group, and I was overwhelmed by employee’s involvement and support of the campaign,” Tom said.
“In one short month, our trans-Tasman ‘Magnum TPI’ team and supporters managed to raise an impressive $51,150 with Transpacific matching this dollar for dollar for a grand total of $102,300.
“Male employees account for 82 per cent of our workforce and with an average age of 42 years, the men’s health issue of Prostate Cancer, in particular, hits close to home for many.
“Whether it is from personal experience, having seen a loved one go through it, or simply knowing you are in a higher risk group, I think we’ve all been touched in some way by this deadly disease.
“Our primary objective at Transpacific is to achieve Zero Harm, which means zero incidents, zero injuries and zero illnesses.
“By raising important funds and awareness for men’s health issues and encouraging regular testing to achieve early detection and diagnosis, we hope to be one step closer to achieving that goal,” he said.
