CentrePort welcomes Transmission Gully progress

CentrePort Chief Executive Blair O’Keeffe said the company was pleased with the Government’s decision to approve financing arrangements for Transmission Gully.

The Government has approved a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to finance and build the Road of National Significance.

“It’s important that the Government finds a way to fund this vital project and we are pleased that NZTA will be able to start construction in 2014,” Mr O’Keeffe said.

About 730,000 heavy vehicles move across the State Highway network at the edge of Wellington city each year – many of them connecting to the Port.

“In all our submissions on Transmission Gully we have highlighted the new road as an important part of a package of solutions which includes the Grenada to Seaview interchange and the cross valley link.

“We are pleased the Government is continuing to make positive progress towards the funding and construction of Transmission Gully,” Mr O’Keeffe said.
