PayGlobal’s Christmas Gift to St John

MEDIA RELEASE: PayGlobal’s Christmas Gift to St John
13 December 2012

It’s Christmas time, and what better way to celebrate than by supporting one of New Zealand’s most trusted brands?

That’s the message from the team at PayGlobal, who are heading out to the streets of Christchurch to spread the word about St John.

Over 80 members from PayGlobal are volunteering for St John this Friday afternoon from 1.30pm (14 December).

The PayGlobal team are running a membership drive for the St John Supporter Scheme at several places across the city, encouraging the public to sign up and support St John.

The St John Supporter Scheme entitles members of the community to free medical emergency ambulance attendance and / or transport to a hospital anywhere in New Zealand. The usual part-charge is waived to Supporter Scheme members.
Hugh Martyn, PayGlobal Chief Executive, says this coming Friday is the organisation’s company day, “and tradition has it that all our staff get together – so our Sydney and Auckland branch staff come to Christchurch to join in the fun too.

“The idea is for us all to get together, plan for 2013 and have some fun while celebrating the values upon which our company is based, usually through an activity: ‘We live above the line; We are passionate about our customers; We act as one’.”

Mr Martyn says PayGlobal had a brainstorming session for ideas, and were influenced by the day’s proximity to Christmas.

“This merged into the idea of being able to help out a great cause. St John has such a wonderful reputation in the marketplace for helping all New Zealanders and they are a PayGlobal customer as well! Perfect!”

Mr Martyn says PayGlobal plan on giving the team some challenges, “which will include dressing themselves in Christmas garb, singing carols, and generating excitement and awareness about the Supporter Scheme. Prizes for these challenges will be donations to charitable causes of their choosing, as well as St John.”

Sarah Wilkinson, St John Fundraising Manager South Island, says St John is a customer of PayGlobal, so “it’s great to reaffirm these links and have members of their team supporting us in this way”.

The St John Supporter Scheme is a way for members of the community to have their medical emergency ambulance transports covered, says Ms Wilkinson. “However, it goes much further than that. The subscription fee you pay helps St John provide essential services to New Zealand communities, such as our Youth programme, our community care services, and our Ambulance Services.”

Ms Wilkinson says the team from PayGlobal will be bright and recognisable in their yellow hi-vis vests, and will have information on the St John Supporter Scheme to hand out.

“We’d like to thank them for their hard work and efforts in supporting St John, and we hope that the public follow suit and sign up to the Supporter Scheme to also support us in what we do.”
