What The Most Pampered Feet In The World Will Be Wearing This Christmas

New Zealand Red Deer Down Fibre Socks a Snip at only GBP 895 per pair

Tauranga, 17 December 2012 - New Zealand company Douglas Creek - the business that developed Cervelt, an innovative new ultra high quality fibre from Red Deer – provides the key component in the world’s most exclusive sock, launched this month by Harry’s of London.

Promising to be just the thing for the gentleman that has, well, literally everything, the limited edition range of Cervelt socks is the ultimate in high end luxury for those that like the finer things in life.

The high price tag of GBP 895 is due to the rarity of Cervelt fibre. Grown in New Zealand on farmed Red Deer, Cervelt is considered the most exclusive natural textile fibre in the world and is sought after by the luxury fashion houses of Europe for use in luxury scarves, jerseys and jacketing. Using the fibre for socks is something completely new.

The socks will be produced in a limited production run of just 100 pairs, requiring the highest possible standard of craftsmanship to dye, weave and hand-finish this very special material.

Cervelt developer, Douglas Creek Managing Director Bert McGhee, says the fibre took 12 years to bring to market.

“I have always believed in Cervelt. There is nothing else like it in the world. It leaves cashmere and vicuna in its wake, and can’t be beaten for lightness and softness. Its amazing qualities and the fact that it is available in such limited amounts makes it highly sought-after and very special.”

Lighter and softer than cashmere, just 25 grams of fibre is collected from each animal.
