Natural sweetness, without the calories

Natural sweetness, without the calories
Equal announces the launch of two new Equal Stevia products, giving the health-conscious consumer more choice when it comes to natural sweeteners.

Those with a sweet tooth can now add sweetness to their hot beverages, cooking and baking with a centuries-old natural sweetener that doesn’t compromise on taste, thanks to Equal Stevia Granules and Sticks, the latest addition to Equal’s range of sweeteners.

Equal Stevia is made from extracts of the Stevia plant, which is a member of the Chrysanthemum family that grows in South America and parts of Asia. It has been used as a natural sweetener for hundreds of years and is already used to sweeten foods and beverages all over the world.

“We have seen significant growth in the stevia sweetener market in New Zealand over the past 12 months, with consumers demanding more natural products. It made perfect sense for us to introduce Equal Stevia in granules and sticks, to give our consumers even more choice,” said Tracey McKay of NZ Sugar, the NZ distributor of Equal.

Equal Stevia Sticks are portion-controlled single-serve sticks, developed especially for sweetening hot drinks, while the Equal Stevia Granules provide a spoon-for-spoon replacement for sugar, making it ideal for cooking and baking.

The Equal Stevia range of products contains up to 98 per cent less calories than regular sugar[1], perfect for those watching their weight or people living with diabetes. It is also a great solution for anyone looking to make small but significant changes towards a healthier diet and lifestyle.

“Sweeteners like Equal Stevia ensure that people with diabetes who need to manage their glucose intake carefully don’t feel like they are missing out. Equal Stevia gives people with diabetes greater flexibility with what they eat and drink”, said Tracey McKay.

The Equal Stevia range is now available at New World and Pak‘nSave supermarkets throughout the country.
