A bonnie wee resource for indie travellers

Arrival Announcement

Monday 11th March 2013.

Announcing the arrival of a bonnie wee resource for indie travellers:

The first two destination guides in the Indie Travel Guides imprint, born of the well-travelled Kiwi couple – Craig and Linda Martin – who brought you the award-winning Indie Travel Podcast.

The first two destination guidebooks from Indie Travel Guides are released this week: Indie Travel Guides Las Vegas, and Indie Travel Guides Buenos Aires. Featuring an innovative design and layout, these Indie Travel Guides are purposefully created for electronic devices, and help to simplify travel research and planning whilst on the road.

“The Indie Travel Guides' destination series was born out of our frustrations with the guides currently available,” says publisher Craig Martin.

“We found it was very frustrating scrolling through page after page of accommodation and restaurant listings, when we wanted to quickly find somewhere to stay and eat. It made us think; ‘wouldn’t it be great if the information was organised by area’.”

The result is a clever layout that features neighbourhood areas where indie travellers can stay, eat, play, and immerse themselves in the local community. Each neighbourhood region is organised by budget (low, midrange and high-end) and travellers can easily decide where it’s best to base themselves within a city.

“Of course the other benefit is that you don’t waste time and money zigzagging across town looking for places to stay or eat,” Craig Martin confirms.

Another standout feature of each guide is the Top ten things to do section which features a collection of suggested itineraries for getting the very best out of a location. Want to have a family experience in Las Vegas? Indie Travel Guides Las Vegas can oblige with ideas for safe family fun in the city known as Sin City. Need to see more of Buenos Aires than tango and empanadas? How about a day discovering the incredible street art and inhaling the smells, colours, sights, and sounds of the street ferias, as described in Indie Travel Guides Buenos Aires? As well as explaining a location’s traveller highlights, each Indie Travel Guide also encourages travellers to explore: off the beaten track with its section on alternative itineraries; or out of the city with the Day trips section.

Every Indie Travel Guide includes:

Top ten things to do – Don’t miss these traveller highlights. Ten ways to spend a day – Try out these tailor-made itineraries to get the best out of the location.

Neighbourhood knowledge – Don’t waste time and money zigzagging across town; stay, eat and play in the same neighbourhood. Accommodation is listed in budget, midrange, and high-end categories.

Travel tips – Get the best practical advice on money, safety, and transportation (with special mentions for LGBT and women travellers).
