Adnams Beer Now Available In New Zealand
Hailing from the seaside town of Southwold, on the East Coast of England, beer was first brewed on the Adnams site controversially by the ‘ales wives’ in 1345. Charged for breaking the assize of ale, all was then quiet until 1872 when Adnams was established.
Fast-forward to present day and Adnams is now a prominent name in the European craft beer market, known for their traditional yet innovative approach, making a range of seasonal, historical and international style beers.
With a string of accolades under their belt including ‘Brewery of the year’ by UK’s bestselling guide book The Good Pub Guide 2011, and picking up top honours at the World Beer Awards and the International Beer Challenge awards, Adnams holds strong credibility Internationally.
But what really sets this Brewery apart is their continual development of their environmental impact of their operations whilst still leading the way in creating quality products to meet the increasingly discerning consumer palate.
In 2008, Admans opened UK’s first energy efficient brewery that includes an Anaerobic digestion plant to turn brewery and food waste into biogas. Included in the centre is UK’s largest living roof that contains lime and hemp walls and a rain harvesting system, making Adnams the most environmentally efficient brewhouse in Europe.
“At Adnams, we want to make sure that our impact on society is a positive one. Our company values are rooted in making great products without costing the earth. From working with local farmers and producers who supply our brewery and hotels, through to partnering with a local business to install an anaerobic digestion plant to turn brewery and food waste into biogas, we believe that doing the right thing makes great business sense.”
Their ongoing environmental work hasn’t gone unnoticed, winning the Queens Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development 2012, Adnams is a leader in the field with the most environmentally efficient brewhouse in Europe.
Initially, six beers from the Adnams range are being launched in New Zealand – the more notable being: Adnams Ghostship, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Adnams Innovation. Ranging from 4.5% to 6.7%, the unique and vibrant range has something for everyone and has been well received internationally.
“Adnams Innovation is one of my ales of the year that’s for sure” Andy Mogg, Blogger at beerreviews.co.nz“A global classic and a benchmark for its style” Adrian Tierney-Jones, author of ‘1001 Beers You Must try Before You Die’
Adnams Beer is sold individually in 500ml bottles and is available now in Glengarry’s, Super Liquor and selected supermarkets nationwide.
