Contractors’ federation welcomes Vocational Pathways announcement
The final Vocational Pathway publications, launched today, will boost opportunities for careers in the civil construction industry, says New Zealand Contractors’ Federation chief executive Jeremy Sole.
Mr Sole said the initiative provides a pathway to demonstrate the depth, complexity and skills involved in industries such as civil construction in ways that would interest and attract talented young people.
“It is very neat in terms of both providing opportunities and giving visibility to opportunities in the construction sector,” he said.
“We also strongly welcome the Government’s commitment to the ‘reboot’ of the Modern Apprenticeships.
“That will not only provide an incentive for employers to employ apprentices but will also do much to encourage more young people to consider making their career in the industry.”
