New tenants for Citygate

New tenants for Citygate

McConnell Property announced today that it has entered into an agreement to lease two floors in its new Citygate development to health insurer Southern Cross Health Society.

Following this latest commitment, McConnell Property has now leased 95% of Citygate with construction due for completion in July 2013.

Citygate is a high-profile five-storey 5,300sqm office building being developed by McConnell Property on the corner of Anglesea and Ward Streets.

McConnell Property Senior Development Manager Aidan Donnelly said he was delighted to welcome the iconic Kiwi organisation to Citygate, which is fast establishing itself as Hamilton’s premier business address. Southern Cross joins anchor tenant PricewaterhouseCoopers.

“The fact that Citygate is almost fully leased, having attracted tenants the calibre of Southern Cross and PricewaterhouseCoopers, is testament to the development’s high-quality offering,” said Mr Donnelly. “It demonstrates the appeal of Citygate for businesses that value a well-designed, efficient and safe workspace, and a better operating environment for customers and staff.”

Southern Cross will occupy 1,800sqm of office space on Levels 1 and 2. The only remaining space is 235sqm of office and four retail tenancies on the ground floor.

“Businesses are increasingly aware of the advantages of being able to offer staff and clients a vibrant mixed-use environment with amenities like shops and cafés, as Citygate does,” said Mr Donnelly.

Mr Donnelly confirmed that leasing of the retail space on the ground floor is also going well, with only four tenancies remaining and strong interest shown from a range of potential retail and café tenants.

McConnell Property was recently awarded a four-star Green Star Design rating for Citygate from the New Zealand Green Building Council. Citygate is believed to be the first certified commercial office building in the Hamilton CBD.
