Entries are Open for the BNZ Great Lake Taupō Business Awards 2013

Entries are now open for the BNZ Great Lake Taupō Business Awards 2013. The new categories and structure for the Awards, which is very attractive to business owners, was revealed at the Launch last Thursday at the Bank of New Zealand to a crowd of 130 people.

For the first time ever, the awards are open to business throughout the Taupō District, including Mangakino, Taupō and Turangi. Businesses can be crowned the best in their industry, with seven industry titles to be won.

While the traditional categories of Retail, Hospitality and Service/Trade will certainly be recognised, there are four new categories for Professional Services, Tourism, Accommodation and Industrial/Manufacturing businesses. Businesses will be judged by their written application as well as a mystery shop.

“As outstanding customer service is still considered vital to the success of our town and our region, each award will have a customer service section with an appropriate mystery shop included” said Towncentre Taupō General Manager, Julie McLeod.

There will be one overall Customer Service Award given to the business that displays exceptional customer service. Only those businesses that have entered the Business Awards are eligible for the Customer Service Award.

Local mystery judges, who are experienced in their field, will visit each entrant and select the finalists. The winner, as determined by an out of town mystery judge, will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner.

All written applications plus mystery shop results will once again be independently judged by Auckland based business growth centre; The ICEHOUSE. Businesses enter through a robust and detailed application, designed to highlight the current footprint of their business.

Entries are open from now until Friday, 19 April. In order for the mystery shop visits to take place, Business owners will need to commit to entering the Business Awards and fill in an entry form. Entries can be completed online at http://taupobusinessawards.co.nz/the-awards-process/enter Applications aren’t due until Friday 31 May, giving businesses 8 weeks to get their application together. To help support businesses through the application process, we are holding a series of workshops.

We want everyone who enters the Awards to complete their application to the highest level possible for that business. The workshops are working sessions designed to get ideas written down, and participants should come with ipads or notebooks & pens in hand.

The workshops will be run and supported by the category sponsors.
