Philips launches new Aquafit LED range designed specifically for bathrooms

Auckland, New Zealand – Philips has launched the Aquafit Gen 4 range, a new range of LED light fittings specifically designed for bathrooms. The range is engineered for safety in humid environments, without compromising on the aesthetic appeal that Philips’ lighting products are renowned for.

Bathrooms require a flexible lighting scheme – the light needs to be bright enough for shaving or applying make-up, with soft, warm light that helps to create ambience. Aquafit Gen 4 provides a total bathroom lighting solution with over 40 designs, catering for both task lighting and indirect accent lighting requirements. Some of the products are tunable white, which means the lighting effect can be switched between warm and cool white light, and a number of models in the range are also dimmable.

“The Aquafit Gen 4 range is perfect for people who are building or renovating. Made of stylish, high quality materials with a variety of fittings for ceiling, wall and recess lighting, all modern bathroom lighting needs can be met by this range,” said David Procter from Philips Lighting.

The new Aquafit Gen 4 LED fittings all come with world-recognised IP (Ingress Protection) safety ratings, which enable consumers to choose the right fitting for different areas of the bathroom (depending on how exposed they are to water). Most of the Aquafit Gen 4 fittings have a specialised drainage hole to release any accumulated moisture.

Using Philips’ LED, the Aquafit range uses up to 80 per cent less energy than incandescent lighting and can last 15-20 times longer.[1] With lighting making up around 12 per cent of the average New Zealand home’s electricity bill, converting to energy efficient lighting is one simple and effective way to reduce overall energy consumption[2] and cost.

“Philips has seen a significant rise in LED sales in New Zealand as consumers become more aware of the benefits of switching to LED. Philips expects at least 45 per cent of global lighting to be LEDs by as early as 2015, and 75 per cent by the end of this decade”, said Mr. Procter.

Philips Aquafit range is available at Bunnings and selected electrical wholesalers with pricing starting at $99.95 including GST.
