Law Firm Move To New Offices
Law firm Cuningham Taylor moves into its newly constructed building this week at Unit 7, 295 Blenheim Road, Christchurch, after being in temporary accommodation for two years.
Cuningham Taylor moved to Wrights Road, where they have been housed in two buildings, after their building in Worcester Boulevard was demolished following the 22 February 2011 earthquake.
The new purpose-built building in Blenheim Road, developed by Tudor Properties, is next to Hubbers Furnishings, and adjacent to The Warehouse, and will house the firm’s 6 partners and 25 staff.
Partner, Isabel Mitchell, says that “it has not been easy being housed in two cramped office spaces for the last two years without amenities such as a lift and sufficient space for client meetings. Facilities for partners and staff have also been limited.”
“But it’s all the past now. We’re delighted with our new premises which are robustly engineered and will enable the easy delivery of up to date technology. The layout has been designed for purpose. The firm will be on one floor (we were on two floors in York House), there is a lift and a number of meeting rooms including a spacious boardroom. There is an abundance of natural light and the building is in an established area with client car parking available at the door.
We are very excited about the move and opening our new doors to clients”
Cuningham Taylor is the product of the merger of law firms Cuningham Taylor and Thomson and Smithson Cleland Fountain and Gilroy in 1987. Both firms had been tenants in York House since it was built in 1974.
Christchurch law firm Cuningham Taylor goes back by association to 1875, but the original Cuningham and Taylor came together in 1907, with Hamish Taylor, a current partner, the fourth generation to practise as a partner in the firm.
