Local Company Launches Home-grown Cloud Application

30 APRIL 2013

Media release: Local Company Launches Home-grown Cloud Application to Help Smb’s Save On Payroll Costs.

Today New Zealand company iDt Group announced the launch of Biotime, a new cloud Time and Attendance solution developed by the company to specifically cater for the needs of small and medium businesses (SMB’s).

Biotime is the first complete product development for iDt Group, who have over 15 years experience in the industry gained through the sale and support of 3rd party time and attendance products.

The area of Time & Attendance is a major cost saving opportunity for organisations where labour is a major cost. Implementing a T&A solution helps a businesses to ensure payroll accuracy, move away from manual timesheets or punch cards and eliminate costly manual payroll processing.

Hayden Burnett, Director at iDt Group is excited about the company’s move. “Until now there has been a frustrating lack of Time and Attendance offerings in the market that offered the right mix of functionality and price for SMB’s. The advances in cloud computing and over fifteen years of experience in the industry have allowed us to come up with a solution that we think should deliver the right solution for New Zealand businesses”

Of iDt Group’s move from reseller to product development Burnett says “we have always had in-house development capability for customisations and integration, but we made a strategic move towards our own product development last year when we acquired part of an Australian company who had software that had a very strong awards interpretation engine but was outdated in all other facets. We’ve used this engine as the core code but the rest of biotime is completely new.” Says Burnett. “We’ve designed a clean, simple user-interface to try to make using biotime as intuitive as possible. We’ve added job costing and scheduling functionality and we’ve then worked with Provoke Solutions to architect a cloud infrastructure using Microsoft’s Windows Azure hosting platform.”

Biotime builds on the growing the cloud eco-system available to small businesses, adding cloud Time and Attendance to the cloud accounting and payroll solutions that have gained traction over recent years.

“Xero’s success has really raised awareness of the cloud amongst SMB’s which is great because it really does offer huge benefits to small businesses” says Burnett. “Biotime interfaces directly with all the popular payroll solutions available so now a ‘total cloud’ solution, right from time capture through to payment and general ledger, is available for businesses.”

A subscription to biotime also incorporates bioscan, the finger-scan time-clocks iDt Group have developed. “The bioscan clocks use AndroidTM based tablets and our own application to make the integration with biotime extremely tight and provide an intuitive user-interface. This was important to us as we need to be able to manage the total user experience” says Paul Murphy, iDt Group’s Head of Product Development. “We’ve incorporated a range of readers, including latest in finger-vein technology which is basically bullet proof from an accuracy perspective” say Murphy. “When you add these to the biotime you really do have the total employee time management solution.”

Biotime, is available from 1 May on subscriptions starting from $6.50 per employee per month. For more information on biotime, visit the website at http://www.biotime.co.nz
