Another Kiwi Battler Success Story
In a climate over years where many businesses have struggled to survive, a Hamilton Caravan Manufacturer has being able to provide another success story.
Hamilton’s Caravan Manufacturer Leisureline which is based at Te Rapa has achieved a milestone with the production of its 1000th Leisureline Caravan.
Leisureline also manufactures the Southern Star Range of Caravans of which 150 have been built along with 40 cabins.
Challenges with the influx of imported Caravans has had an effect on the New Zealand manufacturing Industry, with some manufacturers finding it difficult to compete with pricing of new and particularly second hand caravans, however compliance issues with Gas and Electricity in these imported vans has become a costly issue for some owners. along with deterioration of some imported vans when operating on in the New Zealand Conditions.
As a result over the past few years a number of Manufacturers have reduced production or ceased operations.
This was seen as an opportunity, with Leisureline rising to the challenge, competing against the imported competitors, and with effective marketing and the promotion of “the Kiwi Built” aspect, Leisureline Caravans have found their way in to the homes and hearts of many New Zealanders. As a result Leisureline has grown to take the title of New Zealand’s Largest Caravan Manufacturer.
Leisureline is a family owned business, which was established in 2000
and employs 36 people.
Colin Bates is the Managing Director and owner of the Business, along with his wife Merilyn, . Colin’s son Wayne Bates heads the day to day operation of the Factory and looks after the Southern Star Brand, while Daughter Liz is the Office Manager.
Leisureline supports two factory sales outlets -Ohaupo Caravans , and New Plymouth Caravan Centre, in addition to a Nationwide network of Dealers.
Friday will see the official Launch and handover of the 1000th Leisureline at 1.00pm where a number of customers, suppliers and dealers will be present, to celebrate the achievement.
