Green Meadows Beef Shows Commitment to NZ Food Traceability
Green Meadows Beef Shows Commitment to New Zealand Food Traceability with Launch of Own Butchery
Green Meadows Beef, a New Zealand owned, family business that produces 100% grass-fed, free-range beef has opened the doors to its own butchery in New Plymouth. This is the natural next step for the brand that hopes their approach to beef farming, processing and delivery will lead to more Kiwis purchasing healthier, tastier and more ethically produced meat.
Taranaki based Pat Hogan, who has more than 25 years experience as a butcher under his belt in supermarkets, retail butchers and his own store, has been brought on to manage the butchery. He is a welcome addition to the Green Meadows Beef team, which is led by Michael and Margy Carey, and their sons, Nick Carey, Brent Carey and Karl Carey. Pat’s expertise complements Michael Carey’s extensive knowledge of animal management and Nick Carey’s business and marketing skills.
“New Zealanders are becoming keen to know where their food has come from and we’re no different. Having our own site and butcher enables us to have full control and visibility of that stage of the beef’s journey,” explains Green Meadows Beef Director, Nick Carey. “It also means we can be sure that our exacting standards are met at every step of the way. The new facility also means we can provide our customers with an even better service. We can tailor the cuts according to what they are demanding and can pack and get beef out of the door much quicker.”
The Carey family founded Green Meadows Beef after realising that the best New Zealand beef is exported and never made available to the local market. All animals are reared ethically, fed their natural diet and allowed to roam freely. They receive the best of care, which includes drinking household quality water from troughs filled by the local Cold Creek community water scheme.
The Green Meadows Beef cuts have already been met with approval from New Zealand chefs, home cooks and food bloggers with the beef scoring praise for its superior taste, texture and colour.
Green Meadows Beef can now be purchased through gourmet food stores, Moore Wilson in Wellington and Fresha in New Plymouth with further retail partners due to be announced soon. Green Meadows Beef products can also be purchased through the Green Meadows Beef website, www.greenmeadowsbeef.co.nz, with free delivery nationwide.
