More Capital Jobs
Excellent News
The announcement by ANZ Bank that it is
moving 70 contact centre jobs to its Wellington office is
excellent news, says Wellington Employers’ Chamber of
Commerce Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley.
“This is more good news on the jobs front.
“This is the third company this year to announce a significant number of additional jobs in the region this year.
“In February, international Swedish telecommunications company Ericcson said it was to invest $15 million in a new cable ducting factory in Porirua, with the creation of 30 local jobs, and a week later Contact Centres Australia said it was setting up in Wellington City, bringing 100 jobs by July and up to 200 within two years.
“We’re obviously doing something right.
“The latest announcement is further confirmation of the region’s ability to attract new and exciting businesses and that we have a lot to offer down here.
“Our ease of doing business and our compactness is
clearly proving attractive, and we have to keep pushing
those things as reasons for companies to set up shop
here.”
