Wool Values Ease Slightly
New Zealand
Wool Services International Ltds General Manager, Mr John
Dawson reports that the 11,600 bales of North Island wool on
offer this week saw a 95 percent clearance with slightly
lower price levels.
After last weeks significant price lifts, the firmer NZ dollar and a large selection of mainly shorter second shear wools combined to take the edge off the local market.
The weighted indicator for the main trading currencys firmed by 0.69 percent compared to last sale on 23rd May.
Mr Dawson advises that Fine Crossbred shears were up to 2 percent easier. Coarse Crossbred Fleece were firm to 2 percent cheaper, with coarse shears generally 1 to 2 percent softer. First Lambs fleece ranged from 2 to 5 percent easier. Long oddments were 3 percent cheaper with short types down 4 to 6 percent.
Main competition was from Western Europe, Australasia and China, supported by United Kingdom, India and the Middle East.
Next sale on 6th June comprises approximately 6,800 bales from the South Island , down 33 percent on the anticipated rostered quantity.
