ACC appoints GM Claims Management

Media Release

ACC appoints GM Claims Management

ACC Chief Executive Scott Pickering has appointed Sid Miller as General Manager Claims Management. Mr Miller has been acting in the role since November last year.

“This is an important appointment for ACC, given the central role claims management has within the corporation. Every year we handle around 1.7 million claims, and spend over $2.6 billion helping people recover from their injuries,” Mr Pickering said.

‘One of my priorities is to get ACC firmly focused on improving our customer service, right across the board. Since taking up his secondment late last year, Sid’s team has been working on initiatives aimed at ensuring the best interests of our clients are at the heart of our claims management work.

“We are already seeing some signs of success, so I am delighted that Sid is so keen to continue in the role, and bring the work to fruition.”

Mr Miller, 49, joined ACC in February 2012 as General Manager People and Communications. Previously he held a variety of General Manager roles with AXA and AMP, including GM Customer Operations.

Mr Miller hails from Newcastle in the UK. He spent 17 years in the Royal Air Force before moving into consultancy and programme management work in the health, IT, and telecommication sectors. He moved to New Zealand in 2005.

As a result of Mr Miller’s appointment as GM Claims Management, ACC will now look to permanently fill the position of GM People and Communications.
