Roomie: making high-quality interior design affordable
Giving stylish Kiwis access to high-quality, affordable interior design is the aim of a new online business launched today.
Roomie – Affordable Interiors, Online is the brainchild of Auckland interior designer and entrepreneur Tina Stephen.
Through the website, people contact the Roomie team for home decoration advice. Customers can sign up for ideas about a single room or an entire house and pay significantly less than what they would for a traditional interior design service.
“We want to give people a high-end, personalised home decorating service, but without the hefty price tag,” says Tina, a qualified interior designer with a background in lighting, film and theatre.
“By taking our expertise online and offering fixed-price design kits we’re able to do just that. Roomie is about putting good interior design within everyone’s reach,” she says.
Roomie design kits start with an online or phone consultation. They can also include a personalised design plan (featuring a mood board and colour direction), a scaled floor plan and furniture layout, an itemised and fully-priced shopping list and access to Roomie’s exclusive industry discounts.
Customers can pay as little as $NZ79 and no more than $NZ475, depending on the design kit they select.
The Roomie team also blog and offer daily inspiration and design tips through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
“We cater to everyone – you can be completely stuck for ideas and have no clue where to start. Or you might have a whole bunch of ideas and simply want a hand making them work.
“We’re well versed in a wide range of interior design approaches – from retro design, clean modernism, as well as the popular French industrial aesthetic you see around at the moment.”
“Ultimately, we’re really excited to be bringing high-quality, affordable interior design to the market. So check us out online and get in touch. We’d love to hear from you,” says Tina.
