Mark Bowman appointed new chair of Enable Services Limited
The Chairman of Christchurch City Holdings Limited, Bruce Irvine has today announced the appointment of Mark Bowman as the new Chairman of Enable Services Limited (ESL), the company responsible for the rollout of the fibre broadband network in Christchurch and surrounding centres.
“Mr Bowman is a very experienced professional director who has already contributed significantly to the ESL business in his role as a director,” said Mr Irvine.
“I’m extremely pleased to be able to appoint someone of his calibre and experience to lead the board of ESL – a company that is growing rapidly and will have an enormous impact on the future of our city.”
Mr Bowman has been a director of ESL for the past two years, and also sits on the board of the local fibre company established in partnership with the Crown, Enable Networks Limited.
He is a Christchurch based professional director specialising in the governance and leadership of high growth businesses. He has held governance and senior executive roles in the technology, telecommunications, healthcare, tourism, industrial and energy sectors.
“The contribution ESL and fibre broadband can make to the growth of my community by helping families and businesses leverage the online world is an exciting prospect,” said Mr Bowman. “This is why I wanted to be involved with ESL in the first place and why I am excited to step up to the role of Chairman.”
Mr Bowman will take up the role when the current Chairman Bill Luff steps down on 30 June 2013 as a consequence of his full time work commitments. Mr Luff will remain on the ESL board.
Mr Irvine has also paid tribute to Mr Luff’s contribution as Chairman of ESL since its establishment in 2007.
“Mr Luff has been instrumental in establishing the viability of a city-owned fibre company, growing ESL into a successful service provider to hundreds of local businesses, and governing it as it won the Government ultra-fast broadband contract and as it delivers on this contract,” said Mr Irvine.
Mr Bowman added, “Mr Luff has unrivalled experience with and knowledge of ESL, so I am pleased that he has elected to remain on the board.”
