More transparency on the Christchurch rebuild helpful
Efforts by the Christchurch Central Development Unit (CCDU) to provide more transparency on the business opportunities becoming available in the rebuild of the Christchurch CBD are helpful, the Employers and Manufacturers Association says.
"The Christchurch rebuild presents attractive investment and business supply opportunities for North Island businesses, but until now it's been difficult to find out much about them," said Kim Campbell, EMA's chief executive.
"For example in the new CCDU market update we see $4.8 billion is expected to be spent by central and local government for anchor projects in the city's CBD alone.
"It's important that the detail in these updates is made available to give property investors, developers, prospective tenants and other investors' confidence in the Christchurch rebuild.
"By making the tender information process clear and timely, the updates will provide the confidence North Island businesses need to get involved.
Mr Campbell added that EMA will make its own channels available to help disseminate information as it is released to the market.
